Disney World Weather and Packing For February: Layering For Warmth (UK Guide) 2026

Heading to Disney World in February requires a layered outfit approach. Days are pleasantly mild with an average temperature of 22C and afternoons walking around World Showcase feel like spring in the UK. But early entry mornings and chilly evenings watching Luminous or Happily Ever After call for jumpers and even gloves, as you’ll feel a chill from sharply dropping temperatures.

The weather’s unpredictable, especially earlier in the month. It’s around Valentine’s Day that there’s a change in the humidity levels; mornings and evenings feel a little warmer and that cool feeling doesn’t seem to last as long. Although cold snaps still happen. February 2026 has got off to a record-breaking start. With the first ever extreme cold warning issued, Orlando recorded the lowest temperatures since 1936 on 1st February 2026: 24F or -4C!

A packing approach that centres around outfits with light layers that can be taken on and off easily is key to staying comfortable in the changeable Florida weather helps you get the most from Disney World at this time of year.

What the Weather Feels Like in February

February is a transition month, with humidity levels changing as the month progresses. However February is still one of the cooler months to visit and you are still at the mercy of Canadian cold fronts. With a UV Index significantly higher than the UK you can’t skip the sun cream even on those colder blue sky Florida days, even though it won’t feel hot.

Rainfall is low compared with Florida's summer months, but still higher than the UK at this time of year. Instead of experiencing endlessly grey drizzly days, you’ll usually get a couple of sudden soaking downpours, so most days are dry. Overall, February’s weather often feels really manageable for UK visitors looking to explore the parks, as you’ll won’t be sweating all day and searching for shelter from the sun.

For most people February in Disney World feels warm enough for shorts and t-shirts at midday, but will still have you reaching for long trousers and a jumper when the sun isn’t out. Think of most days like a surprisingly early warm Spring day, it starts chilly and ends chilly, but the middle of the day is too hot for your jumper.

However, if you feel the cold and you’re visiting in February go for leggings and jeans with a short sleeved or vest top for all day. Don’t forget to pack some extra jumpers, and always bring your gloves. Light down jackets or body warmers are a must and you’ll probably find them the most helpful for keeping you warm throughout the day.

You’ll also find the buildings are air-conditioned at this time of year, so your jumper may be off outside but you’ll be popping it on for chicken tenders and chips sat in Pinocchio Haus in Magic Kingdom.

How February Weather Affects Your Park Days

The weather in February is cool enough that you can explore the parks without worrying about heat exhaustion, and comfortable enough that you can spend a whole day in the parks, enjoying everything Disney World has to offer.

The main way February weather impacts your park days is the temperature pendulum. That unpredictable shift from cold to hot during a February trip means you need to pack a variety of layers to stay park ready and avoid spending unnecessary money on clothes. Although some of my favourite items have been bought as a result of being cold in Florida, you can actually save enough for a character breakfast by buying your Disney themed jumper from Primark before you go, rather than buying that impromptu spirit jersey in the parks because you’re cold.

Primark Disney jumper £20 ; Disney Parks spirit jersey $79.99 (£59.25) + tax. The difference is around £40, which is the price per person for breakfast at Toppolinos in 2026!

Packing for Disney Parks in February

The key to packing in February is to avoid the trap of thinking an average temperature of 17C will be warm enough for 14 sets if t-shirts and shorts. While you can get lucky, more often than not, especially in recent years, that packing strategy falls flat and you end up buying clothes to wear.

Taking a variety of clothes, but choosing light breathable items to wear helps you adjust to not only the shifts in temperature during the day, but also the shifts from day-to-day. From standing outside Animal Kingdom feeling chilly at 7:30am to sitting watching Fantasmic! and concentrating more on why you have goosebumps and less on where Stitch is on the boat. To wondering why you happy all day in shorts yesterday and now today you’re freezing in Magic Kingdom at midday reconsidering a dole whip you’ve been dreaming about for months, as you don’t feel warm.

Layer

The Morning / Evening Transition (10-12C)

The Midday Base (23°C)

The Emergency Layer, or for those who feel cold

Top

A lightweight fleece or a Disney Spirit Jersey.

Breathable T-shirt or SPF-rated tech shirt.

A packable "down-style" puffer jacket or gilet.

Bottom

Switch to high-stretch leggings, joggers or jeans.

Athletic shorts or moisture-wicking skort.

Spare leggings

Feet

Stay in sneakers; sandals are too cold for fireworks.

Broken-in mesh sneakers (rotate 2 pairs).

Spare socks (essential for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and downpours).

Accessories

Light beanie and thin gloves

Baseball cap and UV-blocking sunglasses.

Reusable poncho

Rain is likely, so be sure to pack some lightweight rain gear, a poncho or foldable pack-a-mack work really well and don’t take up too much space in your park bag.

During a two week holiday to Disney World in February you can experience a lot of different weather, so your packing strategy needs to reflect this. Our full February packing list is available to download for free; February packing list for UK Visitors.

February Outfit Tips and Ideas

There’s nothing worse than staring at a packing list and thinking how do I make that into a set of outfits that layer. So we have come up with an outfit suggestion for each park to give you an idea of how a layered outfit works in February.

Magic Kingdom: Layering With Cinderella Style

Getting into Magic Kingdom is a time-consuming job, so unless you are staying in one of the monorail hotels you need your outfit with you, which means layers need to be versatile and light for a comfortable full day experience in February.

Outfit Idea: Denim jacket over a Disney tee. Denim is the perfect "mid-weight" for February as it blocks the breeze but isn't as bulky as a winter coat.

EPCOT: All Day Arty Outfit

Strolling around EPCOT in February is magical with Festival of the Arts underway, it’s a vibrant and bright time where colours and art inspire you around every bend. In 2026, even some of the food in the booths is a bright and vibrant colour. Outfits need a bit of give if you fancy exploring the food booths and the rides.

Outfit Idea:

Disney's Hollywood Studios: Ride The Galaxy

This is a park where reduced temperatures make queueing for headliner attractions more comfortable, so you need an outfit that is comfy for getting on and off rides, but also adjustable and warm for air-conditioning and that must-see night time Fantasmic! experience.

Disney's Animal Kingdom: February Outfits

Animal Kingdom thrives in cooler weather. The animals tend to be more active in February, making attractions like Kilimanjaro Safaris, Gorilla Falls, and Maharajah Jungle Trek unmissable, but as Animal Kingdom is spread out you feel cooler for longer. Adjust your outfit choice depending on the temperature on the day. Here is a suggestion for a cooler Animal Kingdom February day:

Outfit Idea: Zip-up fleece and comfortable trainers. Avoid "open-toe" sandals for this park in February; the morning dew on the trails can make your feet feel frozen before 10:00 AM.

Water Parks and Pools in February

Water Park closures in February due to low temperatures are likely, and Disney will also only have one water park open in February 2026, Typhoon Lagoon. As temperatures affect opening, it’s crucial to check the app before visiting.

If you’re staying on-site the pools will be open, and heated. Swimming in Disney World in February is 100% something you can enjoy, but the temperatures may not allow for a full comfortable day by the pool or in Typhoon Lagoon.

Packing only one costume will likely be enough for two weeks, unless you are determined to brave the chillier temperatures no matter what.

Water parks remain open and heated, but cooler days or cold snaps can lead to temporary closures. If swimming is a priority for your family, plan water park visits toward the warmest days of your trip or stick to resort pools in the afternoon sunshine.

February 2026 Packing Essentials for 2 weeks

Here are the packing essentials we wouldn’t go to Disney World without in February 2026:

  • 2-3 jumpers

  • Sunglasses, sun cream, a summer hat, a winter hat, and gloves (Yes, it can be this varied during a two week trip - so pack one of each)

  • Trousers and shorts

  • Lightweight rollable body warmer

  • Power pack, water bottle, and small plastic tubs for park snacks

  • Rain gear - a poncho or light mack

  • 2 pairs of well-worn-in trainers

Packing for February is not as tricky as you think. Warm and light layers that aren’t bulky are the way to go. Outfits need to be adaptable on the go to cope with shifting temperatures so you feel comfy all day.

February FAQs

Is it warm enough to swim in February?

Yes! Disney pools are heated to a tropical 28°C. The challenge is getting in and out of the pools, but if you stay onsite towels are free, so grab a couple to stay warm.

Will it rain every day?

No. February is relatively dry, but when it rains, it's often a result of a cold front moving through. This rain feels colder than summer rain in Florida, but not the same chill factor as UK rain. If the forecast says 40% rain, pack the waterproofs; you don’t dry as fast in February as you do in September.

Should I bring winter clothes from the UK?

You don’t usually need the heavy weight winter clothing we wear in the UK. A heavy weight parka is cumbersome, but a lightweight jacket and a hoody with a hat and gloves is a good idea. Leave the heavy coat in the car but bring the hat, gloves, and scarf.
