Car Parking At Disney Hotels
Parking your hire car at Disney hotels is easy, safe, and free for all hotel guests staying on-site in 2026. When you park at Disney hotels you have to go through a manned security barrier, which means there can be a bit of a queue getting in sometimes.
First time experience parking
When you arrive a ta Disney World hotel for the first time in your hire car, you need to speak to security to gain entrance to the hotel. You need to check-in to be able to drive in and out using your Magic Band or resort key card and use the less congested lane.
Where to park at the hotel
There are plenty of parking spaces at all Disney hotels and I have never had trouble parking a hire car. You can however find yourself walking further for your parked car, than to free Disney transport options. Parking spaces aren’t designated to room areas; it’s a park where you can situation.
Using the free Disney transport system to get around can be easier at times, which you can read more about in the UK Guide To Disney’s Free Transport System.
For UK visitors Disney hotel parking offers peace of mind. Both that the car is safe, but also that you have the freedom and flexibility to go where you want, when you want. But the biggest and most underrated perk about Disney car parking for UK holidaymakers with a hire car is the cost and total savings over a 2-week holiday.
Disney hotel guests get free parking everywhere
Hotel guests get free parking across the whole of Walt Disney World resort, including free standard parking at the theme parks. What many UK visitors don’t realise when budgeting for their trip is that the cost of parking for the day at Disney theme parks adds up quickly. This is one of the perks we discuss in detail in hiring a car and staying on-site: is it worth it?
This Disney hotel benefit adds up to a saving of $490 (£362.96) if you plan to spend 14 days driving and parking to get to Disney Theme Parks.
Can anyone park at a Disney Hotel for free to visit the parks?
No, off-site guests cannot park for free at a Disney Hotel and use the free Disney transport system to head into the parks to save money. Resort guest can also not park at a different hotel; they can only park for free at the hotel they are staying in. Everyone is however able to use the free transport system from where they are parked to get around Disney World Resort.
If you have a dining reservation or attraction experience at a Disney Hotel you can park for free at a Disney hotel for a couple of hours. You have to speak to the security Cast Members at the car park entrance and show them your reservation.
Park Hopping and Car Parking
Park hopping is a benefit many UK visitors enjoy with the UK 7 & 14-Day Magic Tickets. If you have driven to the parks, you can move your car for free when park hopping, after you have paid to park at the first Disney theme park of the day. To find out more about when it might be better to leave the car and park hop using Disney’s free transport options head to Park Hopping at Disney World.
Car parking at Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom
When it comes to parking at Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom you’ll follow the same steps when parking your car:
Step 1: Drive to the toll plaza and choose the type of parking.
Step 2: Drive to the car park where you will be directed to your space by Cast Members. (After about 6pm on some days you can choose where you park).
Step 3: Note where you are parked. Head to the tram or walk to the entrance area.
Car Parking at Magic Kingdom is longwinded
Parking your car a Magic Kingdom is a long job. You need to leave a good 30 to 45 minutes to get from the car park into Magic Kingdom, and if you have reservations to make leave a buffer of at least an hour.
Step 1: Get to the toll plaza and choose your car parking for the day. Drive to the car park and get sign posted by cast members into a space. (Sometimes you can find your own space, but that is usually much later in the day).
Step 2: Park you car in the car park and note down where you are parked. Then head to the tram waiting stop to catch the car park tram. You might stand around for about 5 minutes, but they are regular.
Step 3: The tram takes you to the Ticket and Transportation Centre (TTC). You get out, go through security, and then you pick another transport option to get to Magic Kingdom.
Step 4: Choose either the monorail or the ferry boat to head into Magic Kingdom. Both have a similar journey time of around 15 - 20 minutes, but it can be longer depending on wait times.
Step 5: Arrive at the entrance to Magic Kingdom.
If you have the option to get to Magic Kingdom from a resort hotel using a free method of transport, this will usually be the faster way in, as you get directly to the entrance area.
How To Never Lose Your Car At Disney World
Losing your car is easy to do in Disney World. You forget where you are parked and end up stood in a massive car park exhausted, panicked, and frantically pressing a key fob button. To avoid this you need to make a note of where you are parked, especially in Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom car park is the one place you don’t want to forget where you parked: Heroes or Villains, If because if you go to the wrong side you have to get the tram back to the TTC to get to the other side
The easiest way to remember is to take a picture of the signpost or the ground at the end of the row you are parked on. But Disney have a tool in that app that you can use too.
Using Disney’s Car Locator Tool In The App
Car locator within the free My Disney Experience app, that you use to check ride wait times, is one of those hidden tools people don’t realise they have. You can save your car’s location in the app and change it if you park hop.
The downside of the app is that for it to know where you park you need to remember to use it when you park. Having said that, I’ve found the location part a bit hit and miss sometimes, even standing by the car. You can however manually enter your location; it is just as easy.
This is a useful and free tool from Disney, but in comparison to snapping a quick picture it feels a bit long-winded. We have used both and prefer to just take the picture. When you’re trying to juggle everything and everyone out of the car and safely to the walk way, the picture’s easier event though it takes less than 2 minutes to work through the steps.
Using Car Locator In My Disney Experience App: Step-By-Step
Step 1
Open your My Disney Experience App and click on the three lines in the bottom right hand corner.

Step 2
Next, scroll until you see “Car Locator”. Click on it.

Step 3
Choose to either let the app locate your car or enter the parking location manually.
Click on “Save Vehicle Location” to let the app locate you. The information will appear, as long as it correct, it’s done.
If you need to enter the car park location manually, click on the words: “manually enter your vehicle location” below the button. Then follow the prompts.

Step 3 cont…
First choose your location, then which area. (You’ll be able to see signs fairly easily and the Cast Members on the trams also shout your location as you head into the parks). Next the row you are parked on. And that’s it.

Can I Use My Blue Badge For Parking In Disney World?
It is worth UK guests with a Blue Badge bringing it with you to Disney World. Many of the Cast Members know what a Blue Badge is and will let you park in the disabled spaces near the entrance if you show them the badge. However, you will not receive any discount on the cost of car parking and will still pay full price.
Electric Charging Stations In Disney Car Parks
Disney World do not have many Electric Charging stations in the theme park car parks, and they are on a first come, first served basis. You still need to pay for parking, and for the electric used. Asking a Cast Member to guide you to the locations is best.
Theme Park Location | Number of Charging Spaces | Where? |
|---|---|---|
Magic Kingdom | 5 | 1 at Medical Parking Lot 4 at Zurg Parking Lot |
EPCOT | 4 | Hei Hei Parking Lot |
Hollywood Studios | 4 | Medical parking Lot |
Animal Kingdom | 4 | Mickey parking Lot |
Disney states that the charge for using the terminals is:
"The cost to charge at these stations is $0.35 per kilowatt hour, with a minimum service amount of $1.50. Charging will stop once the vehicle’s battery is fully charged."
Car Parking Conclusion
Car parking at Disney World is a logistical topic essential for UK visitors to budget for and get to grips with. Knowing how to easily find your car, and the best parking options helps your days to run smoother.
