UK Visitors Guide To Walt Disney World Dining Plans
A Dining Plan can be added on to Disney World package hotel bookings from the UK, giving guests the chance to go from booking a room only holiday to a holiday with food and some drinks included. There are two types of Disney dining plan offering different dining experiences: the Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.
In this part of the guide, we are looking at what the dining plan offers UK guests including a quick overview of the value. This guide aims to help you to decide whether the dining plan is right for your holiday.
Disney Dining Plan: Essential To Know
There are Two Plans: In 2026, you can choose between the Quick-Service Plan (which is where you collect meals from the counter) or the Disney Dining Plan (which includes Table Service & Character Meals).
How Credits Work: Credits are allocated per night of your hotel stay, not per day in the parks. They expire at midnight on your checkout day, giving you flexibility to use them on travel days.
Is it Worth It? The plan offers the best value for families who book Character Dining and adults who order alcoholic or speciality beverages with meals. Light eaters will likely save money by paying out-of-pocket.
Important for UK Guests: Tips are not included in the cost of the Dining Plan. You need to budget an extra 18-20% in cash or card for sit-down meals, including character meals.
Free Dining Plan For Kids, 2026: The current free dining offer is that kids eat free. The dining plan is free for children aged 3 to 9 in your party when adult dining plans are bought.
What Is A Dining Plan?
A Disney Dining plan is a pre-paid meal package all Disney Resort Hotel guests can choose to add on to the price of their stay. There are two different dining plan options, which effectively provide a nearly full board experience for your Disney holiday:
Quick-service dining plan
Disney dining plan
You are given a number of credits to use for your meals, and this replaces cash. So you don't pay out of pocket for meals, snacks, and select drinks around the Disney World Resort. Instead, you have credits in the My Disney Experience app you use to pay with. It offers convenience and peace of mind for UK visitors who may be concerned about budgeting for food at Disney World.

What Is The Difference Between Dining Plans?
The main two differences between the dining plans are:
the meal experience
the cost.
Quick Comparison
Dining Plan | Cost | Meals Per Night | Locations to eat |
|---|---|---|---|
Disney Quick Service Dining Plan | £49.99 per adult, per night | 2 quick service meals with a drink 1 snack 1 resort mug | 90+ |
Disney Dining Plan | £79.99 per adult, per night | 1 table service meal with a drink and starter or desert 1 quick service 1 snack 1 resort mug | 170+ |
Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
The quick service Dining Plan includes the following:
2 quick service meals per night with a non-alcoholic or alcoholic drink for over 21's.
1 snack per night
1 refillable mug per stay, that you can use for the duration of your trip
For a 7-night trip you'll get: 14 quick service credits, 7 snacks, and 1 refillable mug to use for the whole of your stay.
This is the most affordable dining plan option for UK travellers, but it only includes meals at Quick service locations. This type of meal plan does not need you to budget for tipping because there is no character dining or sit-down dining included.
If you're looking for a UK comparison for both dining experience and ordering process, think ordering at Five Guys or Mc Donalds.
Disney Dining Plan
The Disney Dining plan includes the following:
1 table service meal per night with a non-alcoholic or alcoholic drink for over 21's.
1quick service meal per night with a non-alcoholic or alcoholic drink for over 21's.
1 snack per night
1 refillable mug per stay, that you can use for the duration of your trip
In practical terms, for a 7-night trip you'll get: 7 table service credits, 7 quick service credits, 7 snacks, and 1 refillable mug to use for the whole of your stay.
This is the Disney Dining plan option that will give UK guests the best value overall, and is the option to choose if you want to have Disney character meals included in your food package. This type of meal plan will need you to budget for tipping at sit-down meal locations.
The term table-service is the UK equivalent of being seated for a waiter service meal. The level of formality and experience varies with table-service meals, but in general think Frankie and Benny's style dining with Disney theming, service and magic. If you are at a table service buffet, think Toby Carvery style dining on a larger scale, with Disney theming, service, and magic.
Do you have to book the dining plan when you book your package?

How Does It Work For UK Guests?
UK guests book a dining plan option usually at the time of booking their package holiday. It is an add-on option only available for people staying in Disney World resort hotels.
Guests are then allocated credits based on the dining plan chosen. Credits are allocated per night, so a 14 night stay gives 14 sets of dining credits. Not all items are included in the dining plan and it cannot be used everywhere, but it is widely accepted at various locations across the Walt Disney World resort including in the parks, at snack stands, in the hotels, and at Disney Springs.
How to choose the right dining plan for your trip?
If you’re looking for convenience and peace of mind for the most affordable price, the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan is the best option for your family. On the other hand if you want character meals, a fireworks meal package, and a bit more Disney magic at meal times, opt for the Disney Dining Plan. This will give you the greatest variety of options and a better dining experience.
Is The Disney Dining Plan Worth It?
Free Disney dining plans are always worth it, but if you're paying for a dining plan, value becomes subjective, and varies from UK family to family. In our opinion the quick service plan isn't worth it for most UK visitors with a hire car; the Disney Dining plan offers value. But the only way to work out if a dining plan is going to be worth it for your trip, is to do a little bit of maths. There are two key numbers you need to know:
£50 a day is the cost for food with the quick service plan
£80 a day is the cost for food with the Disney Dining Plan (+ tip budget for seated dining)
In 2026, these are the numbers to break even when buying the dining plan. But remember, when you pay out of pocket you add tax to your food orders, so this adds between 6.5 and 7% on to the total. You can see how much that would be by using our sales tax calculator for Disney World.
Quick Service Dining Plan Costs
Disney Quick-service Dining Plan costs £49.99 a day. You need to spend $70 (£51.85) dollars or more in 2 quick service meals, 2 drinks, and a snack to break even and spend more to maximise the value of the dining plan.
The average quick service meal is $14.99 (£11.10) or less, and a drink is around $5 (£3.70). Here is an example:
At Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom you can order:
1/3lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger for $13.99 (£10.36) plus tax
Fountain Drink for $4.79 (£3.55) plus tax
The cost for paying out of pocket for this meal would be $19.94 (£14.77) including tax.
Disney Dining Plan Costs
Disney Dining Plan costs £79.99 a day. This means your total food cost each day using your credits needs to equal or exceed £80 to break even. This is easily achieved with the table service dining for dinner at somewhere like Chef Mickeys, which costs $60 (£44.44) for dinner plus the cost of an alcoholic or specialty drink.

Disney Free Kids Dining Offer 2026
For the whole of 2026, Disney are offering a kids eat free offer for the dining plan, so if you buy a dining plan for your trip, kids aged 9 and under will eat free. We take a look at this offer in greater detail in 2026 kids free dining plan guide.
Maximising Your Dining Credits
When you buy the dining plan, you can make your credits go further by choosing items that cost more. Snack credits can be maximised in many ways, which we dive into in detail in Snack credits: The Magic Price Point To Get The Best Value. But here are three top tips to maximise your snack credits:
Pick snacks from the EPCOT festival booths when festivals are on
Use snacks as lunch or breakfast to make meals go further
Avoid buying bottles of drinks or simple coffees as snacks
2 credit dining experiences
Some character and signature dining experiences will cost 2 credits rather than 1. If you are looking to maximise the value of your dining plan avoid these options completely. Not only do you end up with an experience less, but the monetary value is reduced too.
Disney Dining Plan: Things To Know
Booking Reservations
If you buy the Disney Dining Plan you need to book reservations before your trip to get the dining experiences you want. Purchasing the Disney Dining Plan does not guarantee you access to the restaurants you want to eat at. This is something to keep in mind, as you will need to know the dates and times for your booking window. This is currently:
Dining reservations open 60 days before your trip begins.
Tipping
Tipping is not included with the dining plan cost, but is only a concern for table service meals. If you buy a Disney Quick Service Dining Plan you don't need to worry about tipping, whereas with a Disney Dining Plan you will need to budget for tipping as well. Do I Need To Tip With The Disney Dining Plan, answers all your questions on this often controversial topic.
Alcohol
In the US, the legal age to be allowed to drink is 21. This means if you have anyone 18 or over in your party, they cannot drink alcohol as part of the dining plan at Disney even though they are legally allowed to do so in the UK.
If you enjoy an alcoholic drink, you may find the a Dining plan saves you money. Here are some examples of the prices of alcoholic drinks:

The dining plan only covers an alcoholic drink with your meal.
